BCS launched the global organic textile standard GOTS certification, which is called GOTS for short. The purpose of this certification standard is to ensure the standardization of organic textiles from harvesting, to raw materials, to processing and to final product packaging, so as to bring reliable products to the final consumers. This new and unique certification regulation requires textile manufacturers to regulate their production of organic textiles and clothing with globally recognized standards, which is an important measure to achieve the harmonization and transparency of textile labels.

Main factors of global organic textile certification standards

Two labeling systems indicate two levels of "organic" and "organic manufacturing". All inputs must meet the following basic requirements in terms of toxicity and biodegradability: no toxic heavy metals, no formaldehyde, and non transgenic products. Must meet the environmental requirements and social standards that must be met in manufacturing (based on the main standards of the International Labour Organization). In addition, it must reach an agreement with the International Organic Agriculture Movement Alliance to pass the dual system detection: on-site inspection and pesticide residue detection.

The International Organic Textile Certification Working Group has always adhered to the belief that only high quality can improve the social and environmental conditions in textile manufacturing.

Globally applicable

The global organic textile certification standard is a globally recognized certification standard. Many companies have passed the inspection and certification of IMO (the approved GOTS certification body). The cooperation with some large textile processing and manufacturing groups such as Wal Mart is an important factor to attract more certified customers. For product quality certification, GOTS provides a continuous quality control and certification system from the harvest site to the final shelf.

The GOTS standard is the guarantee for the export of organic textiles to the major markets in the world that accept this standard. At present, IVN, SA, OTA and JOCA have all decided to adopt the GOTS standard.

BCS has been approved by the GOTS International Working Group and will provide GOTS standard certification services from now on.
