On December 28, the inaugural meeting and the first plenary meeting of the China Import and Export Food Safety Expert Committee were held in the AQSIQ. Pu Changcheng, deputy director of the AQSIQ, attended the meeting and issued letters of appointment to 20 experts, including Professor of Tsinghua University and Fan Weicheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The General Assembly discussed and adopted the statute of the Committee of Experts.
Pu Changcheng pointed out that at present, the domestic and international public attach great importance to food safety, and the import and export food safety involves many points, long lines and wide areas. It is a great responsibility and arduous task to do a good job in export food safety. Therefore, the AQSIQ decided to establish the China Import and Export Food Safety Expert Committee, as the national advisory body in the field of import and export food safety, to improve the scientificity of China's import and export food safety decision-making and the effectiveness of responding to import and export food safety emergencies, and promote the improvement of China's import and export food safety level by forming a set of scientific mechanisms and timely reporting and communication. He hoped that the Expert Committee would take a scientific attitude to actively study and explore the latest progress in import and export food safety supervision, provide scientific basis for China's import and export food safety decision-making and effective response to import and export food safety emergencies, promote the development of China's import and export food safety cause, and ensure import and export food safety.
At present, China exports food to more than 200 countries and regions every year, and imports food from more than 140 countries and regions. The inspection and quarantine department implements inspection and quarantine on 3 million batches of imported and exported food. The China Import and Export Food Safety Expert Committee established this time will be committed to providing decision-making advice on the national import and export food safety development strategy and development plan, the formulation of important laws and regulations, and the implementation of major measures; Give advice on effective measures to deal with import and export food safety emergencies; To guide the risk analysis of import and export food inspection and quarantine, review the important risk analysis report and put forward advisory opinions; To give advice on the formulation and implementation of major science and technology projects on import and export food safety.
