The Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA) recently conducted a special supervision and spot check on organic grain processing products, edible fungi, vegetables, fruits and tea from six major organic product producing areas in China. 295 batches of samples were sampled. Seventy seven point twenty-seven percent of the sampled products were organic certification institutions, and the sampling pass rate was more than 90 percent, consistent with the results of the spot check in 2008. The quality and safety level of organic products remained stable for two consecutive years.

In the 1920s, organic agriculture originated in Germany and Switzerland. Compared with major developed countries such as Europe, the United States and Japan, China's organic agriculture started late, but the national standards for organic products are stricter in many aspects. Since 2004, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China has organized the formulation of the Measures for the Administration of Organic Product Certification, the National Standard for Organic Products and the Rules for the Implementation of Organic Product Certification, and basically established a unified organic product certification system in China. On this basis, China's organic agriculture has developed more rapidly. According to the latest statistics, the organic planting area that has obtained organic certification in China has reached 1 million hectares, the total export value of organic products has exceeded 400 million dollars, and the total domestic sales has exceeded 4 billion yuan.
